New Dental Patient Information – Pittsburgh, PA
We Can’t Wait to Meet You
We’re always happy to welcome new patients into our dental office here at Warwick Dentistry, and we want people to feel as comfortable as possible from the beginning of their very first appointment. Before you come to see us, you can learn exactly what to expect by reading over the information below. We hope to become your new dental home in Pittsburgh soon, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call!
Comprehensive First Dental Visit
Your first visit with our dental office is also the most important! We spend 90 minutes to get to know you and collect information about your oral and systemic health. We also take any necessary digital radiographs, photographs and perhaps molds of your teeth so we can study your case before making any recommendations. Today we recognize that dental problems don’t just happen and that the mouth happens to be connected to the rest of your body! We take the time to get to know what your habits and lifestyle are like and how they contribute to your oral health.
If we know what is causing your dental problems, then we are better able to stop any destructive processes or habits. We can fix almost any dental problem, but our goal is to prevent further problems. We hear the frustration of patients who feel they are doing everything right to care for their teeth but continue to have problems. Together we can figure out what is the missing piece of the puzzle to keep your mouth healthy so you don’t have to see us so often!
At every exam we perform 6 screenings to address all areas that contribute to your oral health. These are your medical and dental history, oral cancer exam, periodontal or gum exam, dental exam, occlusion or bite analysis and airway screening. In other words, we don’t just check for cavities! And if you have cavities we want to know why. Why you are having dental problems is the first step in knowing how to prevent them.
If any treatment is recommended we will go over all your options so that you can make the best decision for yourself. We also will give you a prevention plan so that further dentistry is minimized. Generally we will clean your teeth at a second appointment and devote as much time as is necessary to restore your periodontal health and give you a sparkling smile.
The time we devote to this first appointment is necessary for us to treat you well and organize any future appointments. We realize everyone has a busy lifestyle and we try to be very thorough yet efficient. Please let us know any of your scheduling needs so we can accommodate you.
Infection Control & Sterilization
At Warwick Dentistry, your safety is always our #1 priority – no exceptions. That’s why we take cleanliness seriously, meeting and exceeding the CDC’s recommended precautions. Most recently, we have invested in state-of-the-art air purification technology for each operatory, which thoroughly cleans the air during procedures that create aerosols. Not only do they provide filtering, but any present viruses are destroyed rapidly. Other precautions include the following:
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used whenever necessary to prevent exposure, including face masks, protective eyewear, gloves, and more.
- Specialized equipment is thoroughly cleaned and sterilized with high heat between procedures.
- Diligent hand hygiene is maintained at all times.
